4am - WAKE UP for Sushidai @ Tsukiji Fish Market
We arrived at the shop around 5.20am and the queue was already quite long! We didn’t get to sit down until 8.30am. Would definitely suggest to rug up, bring water and be ready to stand for 3-4 hours. If you do intend to do this, please note Tsukiji Fish Market is moving by Nov 2016 for the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

10am - Uniqlo shopping at Ginza (multi-storey building just for one shop!)

12pm - Tokyo SkyTree
  • Lunch @ Jojoen: Love their wagyu beef where you get to cook it yourself on the spot. The oil and juices fill your mouth as you bite in. A very reasonable priced meal especially at lunch time (~$35AUD per person).
  • Snack @ Tomorakuno 63: Milk ice-cream is definitely worth a try, not as milky compared to Australia but very very smooth ice-cream.
We continued to browse the shops in SkyTree. It was Star Wars season so lots of merchandise and figurines. We found a shop that made food models, you’ll see from the photos. THE FAKE OYSTER LOOKED SO REAL, I was ready to bite into it!

6pm - Dinner @ 尾花 (1 star michelin restaurant) that specialised in Unagi rice. Having very high expectations, we were quite disappointed by not the taste of the unagi by the fact that there was bone in every bite. Apart from a quarter of the meal, we were embarrassingly trying to remove bones stuck between our teeth! Recommend a no-go unless you are really keen on exercising your tongue to dish out fishbone.

9pm - Tokyo City view @ Roppongi
We bought tickets to the top of Tokyo City view at Roppongi to admire the night view of Tokyo. We could see the whole of Tokyo in the dark with its many red flickering lights. Sooooo I wondered what those lights were for as I never see them in Sydney, turns out, it’s because of the close proximity of the airport to Tokyo city, the lights are to alert pilots of building heights!

There was also a winter illumination exhibition on the top of the building where we could lie down in a big empty room and images of the galaxy would be projected onto the ceiling. It was very comforting seeing how tired we were with beautiful stars lighting up on top of us.
